Of course they have their basis for making the assumptions, assertions, and generalizations that they make. But all those are only a result of looking for data in places where it may be thought to exist rather than looking at the bigger picture. Just as you would miss something if you were not looking for it.

The validity of these results, I wish not to extend. Let he or she who has understanding contemplate.

Sitting and standing snugly in a local pub, soccer fans awaited the world cup finals impatiently. To quench their thirst, water their throats and hydrate themselves from the scorching sun, the sweltering fans ordered drinks in their droves.

Several screens dangled from the ceiling to provide a view, from all angles, the final event of the tournament. Glasses, bottles mugs and jars lined the table tops, full, mostly half full, half empty and empty.

The fans, even though not pledging their alliance through national colors, started cheering even before the game got underway. And despite the absence of full battle regalia, you could feel the tension, see the expectations and if you listened hard enough, hear a vuvuzela blowing in the background.

As soon as the first whistle was blown, bets started flying around the tables, and as the game progressed, the amount of money or bottles betted went up.

Spain strategized on dominance while Holland spared no chance that came up either for a goal or a tackle. The referee, a bow down for him for the way he served discipline to the players.

With each card dished out, there was a clap, a jeer and an out of key sound from the vuvuzela. There was just too much liquid being blown into it rather than air.

By half time, more bets had been placed, from which the fans contemplated more drinks, and ordered. In their quest to save the planet, and against their doctors’ advice, more alcohol than water was being consumed.

At some point, there was an unspoken urgency in the bartenders to collect the emptied canisters as the tension rose. They always say that you can cut it with a knife when it is too high, but this, you could throw a bottle, or a glass at.

The competition went from being a football match to a debate of what is preferable; the Spanish tomatoes or the Dutch uuuuuuiiii. The fans almost forgot that the Dutch also made the windmills and floating houses. And yes, the two countries are into much more than what was being tabled.

Spain possessed impressively despite some few loose passes in their defense while Holland took every opportunity to tackle and make a strike. If I had his cell number, I would have called the Spanish coach and requested some few long shots, because in spite of their brilliant passes and dominance, they lacked finishing and attempts on goal were just not being made.

From where I sat however, I could not raise my concerns or wishes since I had not declared my following. And am not sure I had one. Since Argentina’s 4 – 0 loss to Germany, I did not have any more favorites.

Both teams went on to waste huge chances but in the end Spain created more than it wasted. Like all finals, someone’s gets a red and yesterday was not exceptional.

I foresaw that if the game was to be settled at the penalties, Spain would have lost. But then again, am not psychic, that I would leave for Paul the octopus to be.

And then, after some 90 and 30 minutes of the fans trying to harangue a win from their favorite team and a loss from the other, the consumption of liquid that could flood a small city, moments of despair and hope the Spaniards proved to be too much and scored the only goal to seal their deal and Holland’s fate.

After that, all hell broke loose, the money owed and owned, the alcohol in blood streams, the win and the defeat and the dark of the night.

in a sphinx-like manner, you adore us

adding radiance without eking it out

your are abundant of all I need

~

You and I are acquaintances, more or less

yet, you wear the warmth of my heart

with pride and without holding back

~

I saw no warmth in no other, thus

I sought warmth from none other

I saw fashion in no other,

you were all the fashion I needed

~

I am picky, I never chose you, but you did

you cuddled me reaching out to worlds unknown

vividly I reminisce our first time, simple yet enough

I wish that the hands of time punch endlessly

~

For you, I will go to space, a place only for you,

I will wait to embrace your body

drape gracefully on you, hug you with my heart

and when all gone, I will never let go

I took sometime out from my everyday routines and without trying not to caught the world cup fever. And I almost turned a blind eye to fashion, all I watched was football and listened to the endless, monotonous sound of the South Africa’s vuvuzela; everything else seems to have come to a stand still.

But in the midst of the football euphoria, fashion dictates every moment of a kick, or a hum…at a time like this it is not unreasonable to think that one is living in a beehive.

The world cup opening concert, ceremony were a colorful, a meticulously fashion message, a celebration of a togetherness that maybe no other event displays in the world. The camera moves and zooms in, and am always curious to see how people are dressed. The football fans dressed in full regalia as if they are out for a dressing contest, or even better a non-themed fashion event.

Anyways, I hope that you are also enjoying life and fashion…I miss the day when I will sit and share fashion experiences that have been mind blowing

faint trace lines that draw out the shape show their artistry

and from the beginning the shape captures your eyes

impatient to see the eventual piece, you fantasize

~

when everything was covered up it was a figure,

a figure of beauty, shaped by the overlying garments

draping gracefully, boldly outlining a monument

trendy a monument but not for a moment

~

the hour glass or if you prefer, the 8 or the K

Today I bought a pair of sunglasses to usher in the new summer that I have been looking forward to since the end of the last one. And as irresponsible or careless as I have been before, I intend to keep them for as long as possible. Usually I tend to lose them in a couple of months.

Sunglasses are a fashion trend yes, part of one’s jewelry or if you like bling. And my rationale for the purchase was more based on my being allergic to pollen and as a result at the beginning of a summer periods, my eyes tend to wake up swollen and redden all day.

Like any other fashionista, I was looking for style but also some protection from the airborne pollen particles; if I can get some. And I got more than I was looking for.

I am not a brand minded person so I wish not to reveal what brand my glasses are. If you, wonder, it is not that fancy, but yea, if you get caught on the other side of the street, you may break a neck.

It is randomly random, unpredictable as the weather

It is made up of facts, but even more of the unknown

Assumptions are its face, somethings are not accountable

Yet it remains beautiful even in the face of fashion

~

Metrics are too primitive to measure whats out there

If we could tell how far it stretches we could rocket fiercely

If we knew its depths we could mount drills with pleasure

Yet without showing too much skin, we can’t help but ogle

~

It is not definite yet it is not infinite, we see and forget

We cannot tell the beginning or the end, this way up!

Are coming and going, or vice-versa, we can barely decide

Yet we fall in love, especially when we cannot decide

~

It is abundantly demured, it is a comely mother nature

Without holding back, it explodes, and burns nature

It is defined by laws but it does not abide to any

Yet despite its unfaithfulness, we reach out and caress it

~

It is has been there from time immemorial, can we tell?

It is the alpha and the omega, the beginning of the end

the end of the beginning if temperatures were to rise

Yet for short lived pleasures we exert extra strain on it

~

We reminisce of memories we love with wishes

We imagine of worlds unknown, fearfully and excitedly

We are beautifully and wonderfully made, only if we cared to look

Yet believe it or not we look into it when nothing else gives

nothing’s a sin, everything is scenic after it has been seen

what a scene? Am Alice, am in a fashion wonderland sin

“This better be good, otherwise am not doing it” - David C Wide.

Time and time again he was tempted to say to his wife: you know you just ruined art for me. But he new better. He had moreover committed the crime and had been handed a fitting punishment. And as a good citizen it was his right and duty to do time for the crime.

He had chosen to make a bed and now that he lay in it, there was no turning back.

His anguish, Peter’s anguish started after his wife Emily discovered the world of makeup. And like every other middle aged woman, she felt the need and the urge to reclaim her youth.

May be it was Maybelline, or maybe she was born with it.

To her, makeup just popped into her life at the right time and Peter was sinking or rather floating in the sea of mid life crisis. Thus the indifference in her.

Perhaps a convertible could do the trick.

To her husband, it was like an amateur artist playing with a canvas that already bore a professional’s work.

Spin it your way.

While she sat at the dressing table at the foot of the bed, girlie, Peter lay under the covers wondering why amateurs practiced their artwork on used canvases. Most of all, why did they ruin art that was already perfect. Was that art in itself or was this artist struggling to invent a new form of art or enjoying a newly found one?

Never mind.

Emily had gone from being comfortable in slipping under the covers in her birth suit to spotting a layer of makeup.

Mmmmmhh.

To Peter, it was just another piece of art ruined by a naked artist.
